The Mágochy Family
 


The Magoch clan or genus, dates itself back to the 14th century, to a Miklós and Demeter. Very little information is documented on this family, so extensive genealogies do not exist. A known strain of the genus begins with a Márton Mágochy. Sometime in his life he took the name Porkoláb and in documents he is referred to "Martinus Porkoláb de Nagy Váth et Magoch". In 1514, two donations were made to Márton: the towns of Harkány and Karány. Harkány is located in Baranya megye, which is also where the family home-town of Mágocs is located.

This family thus produced two sets of Mágochy nobility and three coat of arms. The first was to Gáspár. You can find his information here. The second and third set of coat of arms were issued to Gáspár's great-nephew, Ferencz.
