On 3 Nov 1738 in Prince William County, Virginia, Richard Davis of Hamilton Parish in Prince William County sold chattel to William Baylis for 5 pounds current money. The chattel consisted of "two cows & one heifer marked a crop & two slits in the right ear, in the left ear a slit & two under keels, one black horse branded on the off buttock with IIF, one sorrel mair branded WB, two gray mairs both branded with RD, one young chestnut coullored horse branded with X, two chests with locks & kees [keys], two iron pots and two feather beds and their furniture, and one large cubburd." The witnesses to the deed were Joseph Davis, Mary Smith and John Baylis.

On 2 Apr 1746 in Prince William County, Virginia, John Baylis completed a survey of 280 acres of land in Prince William County for William Kernes. The chain-carriers were Davis Holder and John Coniers.

On 7 Jun 1762 in Prince William County, Virginia, the court oversaw "the examination of Honor Castilo and Edward McDonaugh on suspicion of felony. Honor Castilo and Edward McDonaugh being & brought before the court by precept from under the hand of William Tebbs gent. on suspicion of stealing a treasury note of five pounds belonging to John Baylis gent. being examined by the court and the witness against them being heard the opinion of the court is that the said Honor Castilo be hence discharged, and that the said Edward McDonaugh received on his bare back at the Publick Whipping post twenty lashes well laid on & that he be hence discharged."

On 3 Dec 1781 in Prince William County, Virginia, Henry Baylis sold 60 acres of land to Richard Davis for 10,000 pounds of crop tobacco. The property was described as being part of a tract of parcel "beginning at a corner of Cornelius Kencheloe's on Cedar Run a few poles above noted Spring, called the Spout Spring on the said run, then down the said run and binding therewith to a stone a dividing corner between the said Davis and Walter Coe, then with a dividing line between the said Davis and Coe S 81 E 106 poles to a stone in the line of Cornelius on the side of a hill another dividing corner between the said Davis and Coe, then with said Kincheloe's line S 25 W 82 poles to the beginning." The witnesses to the deed were Thomas Chapman, George Reno, John Lee Wright Junr., John Pierce and William Carr. The deed was proven by John Leewright Junr., Wm. Carr and Thomas Chapman on 4 Feb 1782.
