of Anson & Mecklenburg Counties, NC
On 13 Dec 1774 in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina, James Minres sold 200 acres of land to George Leany for 100 pounds lawful money of North Carolina. The land was described as being on the head springs of Richardsons Creek, joining the land Minres' sold to Titus Leany. The witnesses to the deed were Edward Costillo, James Rosse and Joseph Leny.
On 8 Jul 1787 in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina, Edward Costello registered the deed between James Minres/Menzes to George Laney for 200 acres, dated 13 Dec 1774.

On 20 Aug 1790, Edward Costillow had 150 acres of land surveyed. The land was described as being in Anson County,"begining at a hickory and runs North 64 West 135 poles to a pine then South 26 West 178 poles then South 64 East 135 poles then North 26 East 178 poles to the begining." The plat shows the property lying on Gumlag branch, with the written description specifically stating it [Gumlag] was a branch of Lanes Creek. The chain-carriers were Amos Hough and Avret Yerby.

On 27 Nov 1792, Edward Costillow was issued North Carolina land grant #1105 (at the rate of 10 pounds per 100 acres) for 150 acres of land. The land was described as being in Anson County,"begining at a hickory and runs North 64 West 135 poles to a pine then South 26 West 178 poles then South 64 East 135 poles then North 26 East 178 poles to the begining."

On 28 Dec 1793 in Lancaster County, South Carolina, Charles Adams of Mecklenburg County, North Carolina sold 200 acres of land to John Welsh of Lancaster County, South Carolina for 64 pounds sterling. The land was described as being on Wild Cat Creek, a branch of Lynches Creek, "bounding East by James McDonald's land and upon all other side by the said Welsh's land." The witnesses to the deed were Thos. Neil and Edward Costillo.
Edward Costillo appeared in court on 5 Nov 1796 and proved the deed.

On 2 Oct 1796 in Anson County, North Carolina, Edward Costillo of Mecklenburg County sold 150 acres of land to Amon MacMillion for $160. The property was described as being in Anson County, beginning at a hickory on the North side of Gumblog Branch and runs N64 W135 poles to a pine, thence S26 W178 poles, thence S64 E135 poles, N26 E178 poles to the beginning. The deed states the tract of land was surveyed for Edward Costillo on 20 Aug 1790. The witnesses to the deed were James Yerby and John Yerby, with James Yerby, who proved the deed during the January Sessions 1797.
