On 6 May 1794 in Anson County, North Carolina, Michail Coastly entered claim #42 for 150 acres on the waters of Lanes Creek, joining Enouch Deasons lines and including Gibs's old field and spring.

A survey for warrant #42 was completed on 11 Nov 1794 by surveyor Donald Ross, with Nathan Frizel and Enoch Deason as chain-carriers. The land was described as "being in our County of Anson on the waters of Lanes Creek begining at Enoch Deason's corner pine and runs with said Deason's line South 15 chains to a pine, thence West 12 chains to a post oak among three post oaks, thence South 30 West 17 chains to a stake among 3 hicorys, thence South 84 East 30 chains to a stake, thence South 10 East 15 chains to a stake, thence North 75 East 48 chains to a black jack, thence to the begining."

On 17 Aug 1798 in Anson County, North Carolina, Michael Costillo wrote his last will and testament. He bequeathed the following, after his debts were paid: "the third part of all my estate together with all my lands tenenemants and moveable effets to my well beloved wife Kiziah Costilo and the remaining part of my estate to be equally divided amongst all my children." He appointed William Shepherd Senr. and Thomas Shepherd as executors, while the witnesses were Enoch Deason and Isaac Shepherd. Enoch Deason proved the will in court during the October 1798 session.

On 26 Dec 1806 in Anson County, North Carolina, Ingoe D. Cash sold 180 acres of land to Thomas Shephard, guardian of the orphans of Michael Costillo, for $25. The deed was for "all that parcel or tract of land that was sold for the direct tax as the property of the said Michael Costillo heirs." The witnesses were Joel White and Zachariah White. The deed was proven in court by Joel White during the July 1813 session.

On 29 Jan 1813 in Anson County, North Carolina, Samuel Buffington sold 160 acres of land to Stephen Hasty for $25. The land was described as being "part of the landable property of Michael Costello deceased by heirship by marriage of his eldest daughter Sarah Costello lying on the waters of Willis' and Gibes Branch... it being the said Buffingtons lawful dower." The witnesses to the deed were John Walden and Griffin Ross. The deed was proven in court by John Walden during the July 1813 session.

On 30 Dec 1822 in Anson County, North Carolina....
heirs of Michael Costly lose 307 acres of land to auction to due taxes. 199 9/10 acres were auctioned off to William Hammond for $2.26, "the last and lowest bidder."

Less than a month later, on 13 Jan 1823 in Anson County, North Carolina, William Hammond sold the same 199 9/10 acres of land to Abel Stack for $50. The witnesses were D.E. Brittenum and Wm. Ross. The deed was proven in court during the January 1823 session.
