On 10 Aug 1805 in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina, Miles Castillo entered claim #700 for 6 acres of land on the waters of Sugar Creek joining his own line and James McCoy's, including his improvement. The warrant ordering a survey was issued on 11 Nov 1805 and the survey was completed the next day, on 12 Nov 1805, by Wm. Black. The property was described as being "on the waters of Sugar Creek beginning at a hickory his own & James McCoys corner & runs with his own line North 76 West 110 poles to a stake, thence North 14 West 26 poles to a black jack said James McCoys corner, thence with said James McCoys line South 68 East 120 poles to the beginning." The chain-carriers were James B. Hill and John McGibbene.

On 16 Oct 1828 in Jefferson County, Tennessee, Miles Castiller wrote his last will and testament. He bequeathed everything to his wife Isabella, to support herself and their children during her natural life. The witnesses were John Hill and John Rader who both proved the deed in court during the September 1829 session.
