On 8 Feb 1809 in Warren County, Kentucky, John Holder received a marriage license to marry Polly Griffin, with Jesse Holder as the bondsman. The witness was Wm. Chaplin. On the same day, Jesse Holder certified that both John Holder and Polly Griffin were over the age of 21 years; the witness was also Wm. Chaplin.

On 16 Jun 1812 in Maury County, Tennessee, the court ordered "that all the hands between the road & Rutherfords Creek & John Holder, John Jenkins & Wm. McKean from the corner side of the creek work under Mark Hardin as overseer on the road to Franklin."
