On 22 Feb 1841 in Hardeman County, Tennessee, James Garrett of Desoto County, MS sold 25 acres to Thomas Howell for $175. The land is described as being in Fayette County on the North Fork of Wolf River, beginning a stake on the East County line of Entry #883 for 500 acres mark in the name of Dempost and Polk at the NW corner of Entry #619 for 154 made in the name of Heny and runs East with Henys North boundary line 80 poles to a stake two post oak pointers, thence North 50 poles to a stake with a black oak and hickory pointers, thence West 80 poles to a stake with a post oak pointer, thence South 50 poles to the beginning.

On 13 Oct 1843 in Hardeman County, Tennessee, the estate of David Jernigan sold 214 acres to Thomas Howell for $1,712. The land is described as lying in the 10th District Range 4 Section 2 and Bounded as follows (viz), Beginning at three Black Jacks forty poles north and sixty poles west of the north west corner of A. R. Alexanders Entry No. 424 Thence West one hundred and sixty poles to a stake and four Hickory Pointers, Thence sourth on hundred and fifty four poles to a stake and two post oak pointers, Thence East two hundred and twenty poles to a stake with three Black Jacks and one hickory pointers on the west boundary line of Entry No. 424 for two hundred and forty acres in the name of R. A. Alexander. Thence noth with his line and passing his north west corner in all one hundred and sixty poles to stake with a Black Jack pointer. Thence west sixy poles to a stum with Black Jack pointers. Thence south six poles to the Beginning. A witness to the deed was Thomas C. Harrel.

On 31 Dec 1845 in Hardeman County, Tennessee, James Mayo as administrator of the estate of Thomas Howell decd, sold several slaves to Elizabeth E. Howell for $1,085 due in six months time. The witness to the deed was Thomas Adams and Miles B. Moon. The slaves were described as:
negro Sam about 37 years of age
Luis about 11 years of age

On 13 Oct 1846 in Hardeman County, Tennessee, the widowed Elizabeth E. Howell was married to Thomas C. Harrell. The bondsman to the marriage was Andrew J. Smith.

On 22 Dec 1846 in Lincoln County, Tennessee, Thomas Howell of Shelby County, Tennessee sold 228 acres 80 poles to C. V. McGuire for $700. The land is described as being in Lincoln County on Bradshaws Creek, beginning at an elm and small hickory running West 100 poles to a beech marked TH, thence North 207 1/4 poles to a sugar tree & beech, thence East 81 poles to a stooping beech at the NW corner of the old Hightower tract, thence Southward and down the creek with the line of the old Hightower tract with its several meanders to the beginning.
NOTE: Was this actually his estate making the sale - he died before 31 Dec 1845?
