On 25 Jun 1772 in Granville County, North Carolina, Thomas Howell Senior sold 140 acres of land to Thomas Howell Junior for 60 pounds. The property was described as being in Granville County on the South side of Fishing Creek, beginning at a red oak in Mr. Meeds line on the side of the creek, thence along the said line to his corner in the center of three white oaks, thence South along a marked line to a hickory John Vernors corner, then West along the said Virginia line to a gun, thence North to the said Creek __ down the creek to the first station. The witnesses to the deed were John Verner and Jeremiah Frasure.

On 1 Mar 1780, Thomas Howell received North Carolina land grant #196 for 107 acres in Granville County, North Carolina. The property was described as being on the waters of Tar River, beginning at a hickory Locks corner in Taylors line, thence running by Locks line East 90 poles to a white oak, thence by his line South 40 West 102 poles to a white oak, thence by his line East 110 poles to a black oak in Moores line, thence by his line North 30 poles to a white oak in Hunts line, thence by his line West 80 poles to a black oak, thence by his line North 60 poles to a black oak Parkers corner, thence by his line West 180 poles to a black oak, thence his line North 54 poles to a white oak, thence by his line West 72 poles to a black oak, thence by Taylors line South to the beginning.
A year later, on 1 Jun 1781, Thomas Howell sold the same tract of land to Elias Peddeford for 25 pounds. The witnesses to that deed were Benjamin Hester, John Lock and Samuel Hunt.

Survey plat for 107 acres in Granville County
On 12 Jul 1790 in Granville County, North Carolina, Thomas Howell wrote his will. He chose his executors to be his wife Rebecca, friend Jeremiah Fraizer and John Lock. The will was proven in February Court 1791. The will detailed the following:
wife Rebecca: all my land whereon I now live during her natural life or widowhood at her death or marriage the land to be equally divided between my three sons viz. Thomas, John & Robert; I lend unto my wife all the rest of my estate real & personal and at her decease to be equally divided between my five last children viz. Thomas, John, Robert, Mary, Elizabeth
son Thomas: one rifle gun, two hogs one years old
son John: three hogs one year old, the first colt that is raised on the plantation
son Robert: one sow and five pigs, two shootes
daughter Cheziah: four head of cattle, one cow and calf, two heifers, one bed and furniture, eight head of hogs, one pewter dish
daughter Forchin: one bed and furniture, one pewter dish, one heifer two years old, five head of hogs one years old
daughter Mary: one cow and calf, feather bed, one dish, one bason, four plates

On 1 Jan 1799 in Granville County, North Carolina, the late Thomas Howell's son Thomas Howell sold his interest or undivided share of the estate of his late father Thomas Howell's estate to William Smith for $106. This was if Thomas Howell repaid the William Smith $106 with interest before 25 Dec 1800 for a debt owed.
