Chronological Timeline:
György Gombás and Sára Fodor were married on 21 Jan 1789 in Hajdúnánás, Hajdú county, Hungary. Their marriage was recorded in both Hajdúnánás and Szentmihály.
The Hajdúnánás marriage record (first image, below) states György Gombás was a resident of "Sz.Mihály" and son of Péter Gombás. Sára Fodor was the daughter of the widowed János Fodor. The witnesses to the marriage were János Molnár Pető and Mihály Hadas.
The Szentmihály "testimonial" marriage record (second image, below) states local resident György Gombás was married to Sára, orphaned daughter of the late István Fodor.
NOTE: Although a baptismal record for György Gombás cannot be located, there was only one Péter Gombás alive and having children in Szentmihály in the 1760s-1770s.
The testimonial marriage record from Szentmihály is less reliable for the information regarding Sára's father. Reviewing the church records for Hajdúnánás, and neighboring Hajdúböszörmény, shows that Sára was the daughter of János Fodor and Erzsébet Hadházi. Both the Fodor and Hadházi families were of documented nobility in Hajdú county, Hungary; their full names being hajdúnánási Fodor (Fodor de Hajdunánás) and hadházi Hadházi (Hadházi de [Hajdú]hadház).
