Polish Migrants of Osobnica, Poland & Resettlement in Tállya, Hungary

Several years ago, I was conducting research within the Roman Catholic parish records for Tállya, in Zemplén megye, looking for extended relatives of my noble Szük family. While doing so, I came across several death records on a single page that stated those individuals were born in Osobnica, or "Oszobnicza", or simply in "Gallicia" or "Polonia."

Data extracted from the Tállya Roman Catholic parish registers reveals a long-term migration corridor between Osobnica and Tállya. This movement began by at least the 1740s and continued uninterrupted until 1895, when the available parish records end. These records document more than 150 years of Polish migration and residency in the Tállya community.
