On 29 Apr 1826 in Harrison County, Virginia, Christopher Costaloe entered a claim of 67 acres of land, which was part of a "Land Office exchange Treasury Warrant for 3466 acres No. 2507 issued to Benjamin Wilson Junior 8th August 1825, on the head of Hacker a drain of Tygers Valley River, and the head of the Wolf Fork of Stewarts Run, adjoining on the West of the land of Isaac Tolbert, and extending Westerly to include the improvement that Jane Costaloe lives on and down both sides of said Wolf Fork for quantity." A notation states the claim was reentered on 15 Jan 1830.

The death registers for Barbour County, Virginia show Jane Costilo died in November 1854. She died from "old age" at 82 years old and was the daughter of "Wm. & Abigail Reed." She was the wife of Jas. Costilow Sr. and the informant was her son, Christopher Costilow.
