On 24 May 1759 in Fauquier County, Virginia, the court recorded "the motion of Joseph Settle who made oath according to law certificate is granted him for obtaining letters of administration of the estate of Isaac Settle decd. he having with Luke Holder his security entered into and acknowledged bond for the same."

On 27 Mar 1761 in Fauquier County, Virginia, the court recorded that "John Hedgman Gent. and Luke Holder who stand committed by warrant under the hands and seals of William Blackwell and William Grant Gent. two of his Majesty's Justices of the Peace for the County for a Forcible Entry appeared and upon hearing the parties and the examination of sundry witnesses it is the opinion of the court that the said John Gedman be discharged and that the said Luke Holder be committed until he give security for his good behaviour himself in the sum of 100 pounds and two securities in the sums of fifty pounds each, as to binding Luke Holder to his good behaviour John Bell Gent. entered his dissent."
On the same day, the court recorded that "Luke Holder, William Blackwell and Thomas Conway came into court and acknowledged themselves severally indebted to our Sovereign Lord the King in the sums following that is to say the said Luke Holder in the sum of one hundred pounds and the said William Blackwell and Thomas Conway in the sums of fifty pounds each to be levied of their respective goods and chattels lands and tenements to the use of our said Lord the King his heirs and successors upon condition that the said Luke Holder shall keep the peace and be of good behaviour for the space of a year and a day."
NOTE: William Blackwell both signed the warrant and later became Luke Holder's security?

On the same day, the court recorded the motion of Stephen McCormac against Peter Hedgman for 50 pounds of tobacco for two days attendance as a witness against Edward Mountjoy. The court also ordered the same to be paid to both James Fletcher and Luke Holder.

On 26 Mar 1765 in Fauquier County, Virginia the court recorded a debt case between Cuthbert Bullitt assignee of John Barnes plaintiff against Luke Holder defendant. The defendant Luke Holder asked for a continuance "to impart specially to the plaintiffs' declaration until the next court & then to plead."

On 29 Jul 1766 in Fauquier County, Virginia, the court recorded a debt case between Cuthbert Bullitt assignee of John Barnes plaintiff against Luke Holder defendant. The jury decided the defendant Luke Holder owed the plaintiff 600 pounds, the debt within declaration, with the increase of one penny and court costs. The court ordered Cuthbert Bullit to pay William Allen 50 pounds of tobacco for two days attendance as a witness, while Luke Holder was ordered to pay Thomas Howison 155 pounds of tobacco for two days of attendance, traveling 35 miles and returning as a witness.

On 26 Jul 1768 in Fauquier County, Virginia, Euphima Davis made oath, executed and acknowledged bond and a certificate was granted for obtaining letters of administration of the estate of Thomas Davis deceased. James Freeman, Luke Holder, John Bell, and Stephen McCormack, or any three of them, were ordered to appraise the said estate.

On 2 Apr 1773 in Frederick County, Virginia, Thomas Lord Fairfax of Frederick County leased 100 acres of land to Luke Holder of Frederick County. The property was in Frederick County and had been surveyed by William Hough, described as "beginning at a large white oak on the south side of the Blue Ridge and extending thence North 18 West 160 poles to several chestnut trees on the north side of the Ridge, then North 72 East 100 poles to a chestnut oak and red oak, then South 18 East 160 poles to a chestnut tree, then South 72 West 100 poles to the first station." The term of the lease was for the natural lives of the said Luke Holder and his sons, John Holder and Francis Holder. The yearly-rent was 2 pounds 2 shillings 6 pence current money and they were required to do the following:
"plant at least 100 good apple trees at least 30 feet distant from each other and keep them all well pruned and within [a] good fence
cause to be built a dwelling house at least 20 feet long and 16 feet wide 3 years after this date
other such outhouses as his way of Husbandry may require and keep them all in good repair during the time of tenancy
provided also that no subtenant be admitted"
The witnesses to the lease were Gab. Jones, Ch. M. Thurston, Robert Stephen and Francis Peyton. The lease was proven by Gabriel Jones, Charles Mynn Thurston and Robert Stephens on 8 Apr 1773.
