The 1766 tax list for Chester County, Pennsylvania was the last tax list Frederick Hovis appears in for Chester County, Pennsylvania; he does not appear in 1767, 1768, 1769 or 1770. The roughly eight (8) to ten (10) years that Frederick Hovis appears in Chester County as an "inmate" reflects one of three possibilities: 1) he was a renter/boarder, not owning land; 2) he was an indentured servant; 3) or a day-laborer who lived with their employer.
