On 15 May 1793 in Pittsylvania County, Virginia, Ephraim Witcher Senr. and Elizabeth his wife sold 500 acres of land to David Vance for 130 pounds current Virginia money. The property was described as being "on both sides Reddys Creek; beginning at a red oak on Phillip Meeses line, thence down a drain crossing the creek to Archibald Young's line by a line of marked trees, thence along Young's line to John Hammocks line, thence along his line to Stephen Potters line, thence along his line to David Rosses line, thence along his line to Phillip Meases and thence along his line to the beginning." The witnesses to the deed were Jno. Smith, John Bobbitt, Daniel Witcher Junr., William Witcher, Philip Meese and J. H. Stockton. Ephraim Witcher Senr. and Elizabeth his wife swore oath and proved the deed in court on 20 Jan 1794.
NOTE: This was later sold on 14 Oct 1816 to William Witcher Senior.

On 27 Dec 1797 in Pittsylvania County, Virginia, William Witcher Junr. sold 340 acres of land to David Vance for 21 pounds 10 shillings. The property was described as being "on the branches of Redies & Jonaken Creeks; beginning at William Youngs corner red oak thence North 30 degrees East 92 crossing three small branches to a red oak on William Goads line, North 44 degrees West 218 poles to a white oak, South 47 degrees East 95 poles to a red oak, South 3 degrees West 93 poles to a red oak, South 34 degrees West 138 poles to a white oak, South 70 East 31 poles to a red oak on Caleb Hendleys line, thence his line East 164 poles to a red oak, thence by a line of marked trees partly an East course to the beginning." The witnesses to the deed were George Young, William Young and Samuel Young. William Witcher swore oath and proved the deed in court on 15 Jan 1798.
NOTE: This same property was later sold to Jacob Vance on 30 Apr 1806.

On 17 Aug 1801, David Vance, as assignee of Randolph Bobitt, received a land grant for 86 acres in Pittsylvania County, Virginia. A survey had been completed on 31 Mar 1800, ultimately by virtue of warrant #16692 issued 3 Jan 1783.
NOTE: This was later sold on 14 Oct 1802 to Randolph Bobbett.

On 14 Oct 1802 in Pittsylvania County, Virginia, David Vance sold 86 acres of land to Randolph Bobbett for 20 pounds current Virginia money. The property was described as being "on the waters of Cedar Creek; beginning at David Rosses line S21 E120 poles to a white oak by a branch S54 E__ poles to a small elm on Cedar branch, thence down the said branch as it meanders to a dogwood in Phips's former line, N25 W94 poles to a white oak, N57 W31 poles to a corner beech, N6 E8 poles to Rosses corner post on Cedar Creek aforesaid & up the same as it meanders to the beginning." The witnesses to the deed were Peyton Graves, Charles Atkinson, Charles Bobbitt and Henry Atkinson; the witnesses swore oath and proved the deed in court on 18 Apr 1803.

The property was described as being "on both sides Reddys Creek;beginning at John Hammocks corner white oak N20 E70 poles to a corner white oak tree in the fork of Reddes Creek, N51 E25 poles down the branch to white oak corner tree, N10 E90 poles crossing the said creek to a corner chestnut, S56 E21 poles to a corner white oak tree, N64 E101 poles to a corner hickory & white oak on a north branch of said creek, N21 E78 poles crossing a branch to white oak corner tree, N58 W80 poles to a corner stump on Hammocks & Harrises line, East 180 poles to a forked corner chestnut tree, S34 W22 poles to a corner black jack tree, S120 poles to a corner white oak on Muses line, thence his line S45 W27 poles to a corner chestnut tree & post oak on said line, S44 poles to a corner post oak, S85 E11 poles to John Smiths corner red oak tree, S24 E176 poles to a corner red oak tree, S18 W22 poles to a corner scrubby beech ash tree corner, N67 W364 poles to the beginning." NOTE: This Jacob Vance is presumably the same that appears in the personal property tax lists with David Vance. This census places Jacob Vance being born approximately 1775-1793, clearly before David Vance was married to Betsy Kremmer. It's also evident that Jacob Vance is living in the same area that David Vance once resided, as the Hammock and Meese families are nearby.

David Vance wrote his last will and testament on 17 Jul 1830 in Sumner County, Tennessee. He stated that "it is my will, wish and desire that all my estate, real, personal, and mixed, belong to my wife Elizabeth Vance during her life or widowhood, to have the rents, profits, hess? and emoluments of whatsoever kind thereof, having reasonable regard to the preservation of said property, and at her death to be equally divided amongst all my children, having regard in said distribution, to any property that the older children may have had advanced them, which is then to be taken in to the estimate, except a horse given my son John Vance, which is not to be taken into the estimate." He chose his son John Vance as executor. The witnesses were Peter W. Lucas, Champness Ball, James Ball and Abraham Vance.
Peter W. Lucas and Champness Ball swore oath and proved the deed in court during the February Term 1831. During the same court session, executor John Vance and his securities James L. Martin and Henry Martin, paid securities in the sum of $4,000.
