Documenting my ancestors and helping others with their research.
The WILSON Family
The Wilson family was clearly from Georgia before they settled in Alabama sometime in the mid-late 1810s; it is unclear where in Georgia they were originally from. Genealogical research and autosomal DNA testing has helped determine these six (6) individuals as possible siblings.
James M. Wilson [DNA] (m. Dorcas George)
b. abt 1790-1800
m. 7 Mar 1818, Montgomery Co, AL
d. Mar 1839, Perry Co, AL
*Autosomal DNA matches with descendants of James M. Wilson's children: Elias Wilson (b. abt 1821), William Hayes Wilson (1825-1881) and Mary Wilson Brown (b. abt 1837).
Elizabeth Wilson [DNA] (m. William Parks Chatham)
b. abt 1798-1799, GA or SC
m. 19 Nov 1822, Perry Co, AL
d. 1881, Carroll Co, MS
*The bondsman to their marriage was Thomas Wilson, presumably the same Thomas Green Wilson who relocated to the same general area in Carroll County, Mississippi as the William Parks Chatham family.
William A. Wilson (m1. Asenath K. Pullen)
b. abt 1800-1801, GA (m2. Milly Miller)
m1. 1 Mar 1825, Greene Co, GA
m2. 28 Jun 1832, Perry Co, AL
*The bondsman to his second marriage with Milly Miller was Wyatt S. Pullen.

*John B. Ryan and wife Cynthia sold 119 acres to Dorcas George Wilson, widow of James M. Wilson, on 1 Apr 1844 in Perry County, Alabama.
Possible Connections:
These other Wilson individuals are known to have either resided in Perry County, Alabama, or were connected to the above-mentioned possible siblings through various deeds or court records. These connections through various records create a plausible familial connection:
William Wilson (m1. Mary Wilson)
b. 10 Mar 1807 [check validity] (m2. Mahala Hopkins)
m1. 8 Feb 1827, Perry Co, AL
m2. 21 Sep 1830, Perry Co, AL
d. 11 Jul 1838, Perry Co, AL
*His probate records show he was clearly some type of merchant, with an extensive inventory list 22 pages long and total outstanding debts owed him totaling to $79,412; that's equivalent to approximately $2.3 million today. The bondsman for the first marriage to Mary Wilson was the above-mentioned Thomas Green Wilson. I suspect Mary Wilson to be a sister to Thomas Green Wilson, only because the rest of their presumed siblings don't appear to have the same type of wealth as William Wilson did. It is presumed that Mary Wilson died sometime before the second marriage on 21 Sep 1830. This first marriage likely reflects that there were at least two different Wilson families residing in Perry County, Alabama at the same time, unless they were cousins to some degree.
*William Wilson was bondsman to the marriage of William J. Wilson and Martha Ryan on 21 Dec 1832 in Perry County, Alabama; this helps prove there were two different William Wilson in Perry County at the same time, and they clearly cannot be brothers of the same given-name, leading to the plausibility of the widowed Mary Wilson (d. bef. 1830) being a sister to William J. Wilson, thus also Thomas Green Wilson.

William J. Wilson (m1. unknown; d. bef. 1832)
b. abt 1799, SC (m2. Martha Ryan)

*The 1830 federal census shows Wm. J. Wilson enumerated in Perry Co, AL, very near Lambeth Hopkins, brother of Mahala and Permilia Hopkins. The previous page shows the widowed Mary Wilson. The household shows himself as 30-40 years old, a wife aged 20-30, and two sons under 5 years.
*The bondsman to his second marriage on 21 Dec 1832 with Martha Ryan, was William Wilson (m1. Mary Wilson; m2. Mahala Hopkins). See below for more information.
Samuel J. Wilson (m. Permilia Hopkins)
b. unknown
m. 28 Oct 1834, Perry Co, AL
*Permelia/Permilia Hopkins was the sister of Lambeth and Mahala Hopkins. The Hopkins family was previously in Greene County, Georgia.
