There were several Peter Felton living in Chicago in the 1890s and it has been difficult differentiating them from one another. The city directories for Chicago has ultimately been the most helpful set of records with this research, as they annually provided an occupation and home address.

A newspaper article was published on 12 Nov 1870 in The Chicago Evening Mail of Chicago, Illinois, mentions a marriage license that had been issued on 4 Nov 1870. The Chicago fire occurred several years later and there is no record of their marriage with the county or state.

The 1870 federal census has Peter Felton (25, trunkmaker, born in Louxemburg) enumerated on 12 Jul 1870 in the 17th Ward of Chicago, Cook County, Illinois. He was residing in the household of Charles Roeding. A "Charles Reding" appears in the 1870 city directory for Chicago residing 345 North av. Their household consisted of the following:
On 13 Aug 1874 in Chicago, Illinois, Peter Felten purchased the property of 248 Hurlbut Street from Jacob & wife Catharine Sauer for $825. The deed states Peter Felten could take possession of the property by 1 Sep 1874. The full description of the property was "one story frame building known as No. 248 Hurlbut Street situate on lot No. 98 of Block 51 of the Canal Trustees Subdivision of Section 33 Township 40 N. R[ange] 14 E. in said City of Chicago." The witness to the deed was Frank B. Edelmann. The deed was proven by Jacob & wife Catharine Sauer on 13 Aug 1874 by A. Dubrock, public notary, filed on 14 Aug 1874 and recorded on 25 Aug 1874 as record number 185206.
Later on 25 Feb 1878 in Chicago, Illinois, Peter Felten and wife Elisabetha sold the same 248 Hurlbut Street property to Henry Loesch for $1,500. The deed describes the property as the same "Lot number 98 in Block 51 in the Canal Trustees Subdivision of Section 33 Township 40 North of Range 14 East of the 3rd principal meridian." The witness to the deed was Mathias Schmitz, a notary public, who proved the deed on 25 Feb 1878. It was filed on 26 Feb 1878 as record number 170497.

A coroner's inquest was conducted on the body of Peter Felten on 11 Jan 1899 at Alexian Brothers Hospital in Chicago, Cook County, Illinois. The inquest states Peter Felten died on the same day of "cerebral hemorrhage due to degeneration and rupture of cerebral artery."
