The 1860 federal census has Peter Stempges enumerated on 12 Jun 1860 in Newton, Manitowoc County, Wisconsin, with brother Julius living with him. The household before his was that of his brother, Henry (his age mistakenly listed as 55; he should be 34).

The lot in which the Stuempges family are buried in Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc, Wisconsin, is described as graves #1-5 of Block 25 in Section H. It was originally purchased on 28 Jan 1889 for $10.00, presumably when John Peter Stuempges' wife Sophia passed away. The ownership of the graves were transferred to Emma Stuempges on 28 May 1951. The remainder of unused grave (6) was refunded by the cemetery for $57.50.
