The ADAS-ADASS Family
Adas-Adass Family from Kreis Putzig, West Prussia:
Our Adas ancestors resided primarily near or in Putzig, which is modern-day Puck, Poland. Records from the mid-late 18th century used the spellings of Haadas, Hadas and Hadass. Earlier records from the 17th century used the spellings of Adaa, Adam, Adamus, Adas and Adem. These spelling variations are documented to be occurring within the same generations and family groups, showing they are indeed the same families.
It's unclear the true origins of this family and where they may have originally come from, however, it's rather obvious somewhere down the direct male line we had an ancestor with the given-name of Adam. The spelling of Haadas is particularly interesting, as it seems to have Swedish influences. Puck lies on the Baltic Sea, directly across from Sweden, so this is entirely plausible.
Autosomal DNA testing at MyHeritage shows a confirmed match with another descendant of George Adass and his wife Anna Hirt [generation 3]. A significant amount of triangulated matches with this individual show nothing but Norwegian ancestry. Someone within the immediate ancestors of George Adass and his wife Anna Hirt was Norwegian.
