The HOWELL Family
Below are Howell families known to be residing around the same general area of Lincoln and Rutherford Counties, Tennessee. We cannot assume that these families are related to one another and this is my attempt to piece them together. My family descends through Hiram Howell, married to Rachael Young.

*I believe Joseph Howell may be a brother to James Howell (1), as they had similar migration patterns out of the same area of South Carolina into the same area of Kentucky, both associated with the Roebuck family. Unless, I'm confusing James Howell (2) and he should be the son of Joseph, not James (1). Or did both Joseph and James (1) each have a son named James? More research is needed.
*James Howell (2) is closely connected to the John Young "Senior" family of Logan County, Kentucky, as well as a Peter Young in Davidson County, Tennessee. This leads me to believe that Rachael Young, wife of Hiram Howell, may be connected to this Young family. Peter Young later purchased 70 acres on Stewarts Creek in Rutherford County, Tennessee in 1807 from Jeremiah Winsett, placing Peter Young very near to our Howell family on Stewarts Creek and only ~5 years before Hiram Howell was married to Rachael Young.
*Richard Earl Howell (1908-1981) was the grandson of Reece Howell, and great-grandson of Hiram Howell. Descendants recall a family story "told by their elders that three Howell brothers were the first to come to America and they lived in South Carolina. We’re not sure if that information is correct but as of now, I believe we’ve traced our heritage from north Mississippi back to South Carolina. So we're hopeful that we may confirm my grandpas [Richard Earl Howell] info on the three original Howell brothers that came to America."
